These illustrations were created for The Integer Group located in Lakewood, Colorado. The illustrations were to be printed on a duratrans material and placed in backlit pricing boards in downtown Denver in The Paramount Theater. The Paramount Theatre is a concert venue in Denver, Colorado, located on Glenarm Place, near Denver’s famous 16th Street Mall. The venue has a seating capacity of 1,870, but is a popular destination for large acts looking for a smaller concert setting. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
The first illustration in the series is the largest and I wanted the characters to look like movie stars of the 1930’s. I based the man off of Clark Gable and the woman off of Jean Harlow or Bette Davis. The second illustration, the redheaded gal on an ottoman, is based on Rita Hayworth. The third illustration, the sexy gal on a day bed, is based also on Jean Harlow or Bette Davis. The extra illustrations were created for the african american and hispanic crowd. The final illustration, the african american playing a trumpet, is based on Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.
