Printing & Imaging Association Mountain States (PIAMS) is located in Denver, Colorado, and covers Colorado, New Mexico and Southern Wyoming. PIAMS is a trade association with members representing companies in every aspect of graphic communications. Members include Graphic Design Studios, Prepress Facilities & Service Bureaus, Printing Companies of all shapes, sizes and specialties, Binders and Finishers, Mail and Fulfillment Houses, and Manufacturers, Distributors and Service Providers of equipment, supplies, and other materials and services that are used by the industry.

This “Print & Graphics Buyers Guide” was created as a listing guide of companies who were members of the PIAMS in the Rocky Mountain region. The listings would list a company’s specialties whether it was printing, bindery, finishing, graphic design, or software relating to the industry. Also included were sections to help inform designers, art directors and print buyers by providing terminology in the business, a company’s size and what their products and services included, and what equipment they use. When designing this piece, I wanted the artwork to relate to the industry of printing, but I also wanted the numbers and text to be very dimensional by using light and shadow. The center circle graphic is based on the registration mark used on a print proof.
