Roxborough Park Motorcycle Club (retro)
Within the Roxborough Park neighborhood, a group of motorcycle enthusiasts would get together for short and long rides through the foothills of Colorado. The group was established more as a “participate when you want” kind of riding group and t-shirts were suggested to show pride for the area we were from. Not a formal MC (motorcycle club), this made up MC was created just for the fun of it and these t-shirts were printed also just for the fun of it. This design was created to have more of a retro look to it, using a very graphic, simplistic retro motorcycle and simplified rock formation with a vintage typeface. This piece was printed as a three color silkscreened image on blue long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts.
A motorcycle club (MC) is a group of individuals whose primary interest and activities involve motorcycles. Motorcycle clubs vary a great deal in their objectives and organizations. Mainstream motorcycle clubs or associations typically have elected officers and directors, annual dues, and a regular publication. They may also sponsor sports events and annual or more frequent motorcycle rallies where members can socialize. There are a great many “brand clubs” – clubs dedicated to a particular marque, including those sponsored by various manufacturers, such as the Harley Owners Group (HOG), the Honda Riders Club of America and some independent, such as the Triumph Owners Motor Cycle Club. There are large national independent motorcycle clubs, such as BMW Motorcycle Owners of America, the STAR Touring and Riding Association, and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA). There are also specific clubs for women, such as Women’s International Motorcycle Association, Leather and Lace MC and Women in the Wind MC. Roxborougn Park is a residential community located in the southwest area of Littleton, Colorado, in Douglas County and is set within spectacular red rock formations at the base of Pike National Forest. The neighborhood surrounds one of the most scenic golf courses in Colorado, Arrowhead Golf Club. The geological red rock formations located here are more than 1 billion years old. This area easily blends together with the mountains and plains to form a unique climate for numerous species of wildlife and plant life. Roxborough State Park, next door to the neighborhood, offers local residents and visitors a network of hiking and biking trails, cross-country skiing, and sightseeing. The visitor’s center has many educational programs for Colorado geology, wildlife, and history.
